You should know, patience is not my thing. I'm a quick thinker, learner, and have been told by many that I need to learn some patience. Not just with others but for myself as well. So when I didn't get the chance to move straight to New York from college, I was bummed, but like anything developing your career and landing your dream job takes time....and patience.
I'm so thankful for my opportunity at GCU, I'm learning new things every day and trying to grow in the areas that I'm already experienced in. I consider myself so lucky, and successful at this point in my life. To be 21 on my own, with other support from my family and friends is truly a blessing. Even working in a corporate office is teaching me patience, and boy is it testing me, realizing that if it's your moral compass to do your job at 110% effort and efficiency, that might not be everyone's mentality in the office. Learning to work with others who aren't working like you has been a huge stepping stone in adjusting to corporate life.
However, I am nowhere near where I want to be, and I'm working every day to reach that goal. It's extremely hard to not compare myself to others my age and not feel like I'm doing enough. But self-validation is so important, and indulging in the season of life that you are currently in is essential. Like they say "We grow through what we go through". That saying is truly teaching me patience, as it is reminding me that if we never indulge in the messy seasons of life, we will truly never grow to our optimal self-potential and may nearly miss the highest and sweetest moments of life, forgetting to appreciate them.
So, on this Wednesday of August, I wish you patience, and peace and the ability to find your strength to grow what you're going through.
